PVT Dudley Addington McDaniel (SN: 44030102) was born 15 January 1920 in Alabama to Charles Addington and Madge Elizabeth Leming McDaniel.

Dudley served in the Merchant Marines before enlisting into the Army on 06 August 1944, serving with Troop B, 12th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division in WWII.  He was killed in action on 25 May 1945 by enemy sniper fire at Mount Banahoo, Luzon, Philippine Islands.  He is buried in the Bush Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery in Rome, Floyd County, Georgia.

His award and decorations consist of the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, WWII Victory Medal, and Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.

Somehow, over the years, his Purple Heart Medal was lost.  His replacement medal was sent to his daughter in Georgia.
