PVT William Booth Wood, born on 09 September 1922 in New York, enlisted in the U.S. Army on 09 December 1942 and served with the 94th Infantry Division.

Unfortunately, his Purple Heart medal and miscellaneous items accidentally disappeared after an estate sale following Mr. Wood’s death in 2014. The lost medal was discovered by a woman in Tennessee who contacted Purple Hearts Reunited for help.

PVT Wood’s medal was returned to his daughter, Anne Booth Wood Brinkley in Hillsbourough, North Carolina.

PVT Wood’s additional awards include the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 Campaign Stars, WWII Victory Medal and the Combat Medic’s Badge.

This medal return was generously sponsored by the Essex Vermont Rotary Club.
