SP5 Tommie Clifton Thompson Sr. (SN: US 54761844) was born 12 February 1944.    He served in Vietnam and was wounded 12 September 1968.  For his wounds, he received the Purple Heart.  He was also awarded the Army Commendation Medal for service from 13 March 1968 to 05 March 1969.  He survived the war and would later pass on 30 June 2008 in Missouri.

Purple Hearts Reunited was contacted in October of 2014 by a Mrs. Terry Siegwald, who had rescued the items at a Missouri Auction.

The search was long, but persistence led to the organization finding SP5 Thompson’s son, Mr. Tommie Clifton Thompson Jr. Himself a Veteran and graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, he was grateful to have his father’s medals back home where they belong.
