I read about your organization in this issue of Reader’s Digest. I think your organization is doing a great service to make sure the sacrifice of those awarded the Purple Heart isn’t forgotten. It is very important to make sure the awardees get their medals back if they were lost, stolen, sold, or misplaced.

I had the honor of attending a Purple Heart Award ceremony while I was still on active duty in the Air Force. One of my squadron’s members had been wounded in the terrorist attack on Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia in 1996. It was the only time I have seen the award of this medal. I’m now retired from the Air Force and I believe in supporting those who have made such a sacrifice.

There is a very active chapter of MOPH here in our geographic area. There has been newspaper coverage about some of the female local Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who joined their chapter. A lot of people don’t realize that female veterans have also been wounded in those wars and earned Purple Hearts.

I know your organization takes the time to provide an awards case for the medals. This is a very special way for the veteran or their family to receive the medal in a way it can be proudly displayed with honor.

Please accept my donation with my thanks for the outstanding work you are doing and keep up the good work so our deserving veterans aren’t forgotten for what they did for our country.
